Well, to those who missed our famous celebration, here are some tid-bits of the day:
*The Joyful Noise Band, consisting of an electric guitar, a viola, a flute, a drummer, a recorder, and a tambourine--along with the musicians who played them--made music on a float in the parade.
*Isaac, Brigham, and Lisa attempted walking a line with the sheriff's special glasses that imitate the feeling of being drunk; zipped down the zip line, which was attached to a scaffolding on one end and a tractor on the other end (a person would catch them before they reached the tractor;) and played other carnival games, like fish pond, bean bag toss, and making bracelets.
*David and Amber played on the 4th place team for 3-0n-3 sand volleyball tournament.
*Isaac and Amber dove into the firemen's foam on the lawn--they lay down foam 20 feet in diameter and 2 feet deep, and a flock of kids play in it. Most adults end up getting thrown in, but I used my camera as my excuse/shield to ward off potential attackers... it worked--this time.
*Rachel, Lisa, and cousins played on the new waterslide--it came a couple weeks ago to replace the old broken one. (It only took them a year to send it!)
*Fireworks on the sod farm. Trenton Town Fire Department hosts a dinner every year on the sod farm, which belongs to the Fire Chief, to raise funds for next year's fire works show. Following the dinner, the kids play on the grass with balls, frisbees, and glow sticks, while the adults visit, then everyone oohs and aahs as the fireworks blast off from the opposite end of the farm. The designated parking area was full this year for the first time ever! I think this is becoming more popular--it is the 5th year the firemen have done this. It is different than any other fire works show I have experienced... because it is in such a remote location, the traffic getting out is nothing, and we know almost everyone there! Welcome to small town, USA!!!
